We had such a fun week celebrating Ashlynn's 5th birthday! Since the kids were on Spring Break, we decided to plan a fun day trip on her birthday. Little did we know when we planned to go to the zoo, it would be 48 degrees with 35 mph winds! There was a few snow flurries in Anderson during that day! So, the night before our plans changed, and we headed to Edventure (a children's museum in Columbia). After enjoying a breakfast planned by Ashlynn (pepperoni and cheese omelets with oranges), we picked up a few friends and headed down to Columbia. The kids had a blast playing in a real fire truck, shopping for groceries, climbing all inside "Eddie", making music in the African village, and seeing Curious George. We were pretty exhausted after the trip. As soon as we arrived home, we headed to the Mexican restaurant (Ashlynn's choice) for dinner with the family. Everyone came back to our house to open presents and enjoy a chocolate/strawberry ice cream cake! What a great birthday!
On Saturday, we had a party for Ashlynn and her friends at our local swim center. She had so much fun swimming with everyone. The theme was "Little Mermaid." After swimming, the kids came inside for ham and cheese, "fish-shaped" sandwiches, fruit kebabs, "fishy" mix, and cake. I had such a fun time making the cake this year. I tried something new...marshmallow fondant. It was very easy to work with, and made great seaweed and fish! Ashlynn loved having all of her friends with her to celebrate. Thanks to everyone for making her 5th birthday so special!
Enjoy a few snapshots from her birthday adventures!

You did such a great job on the cake!!!!
I'm so glad we could make it for the party. I can't believe she is already 5! Stan and I were talking this weekend about how she's not a little girl anymore; she's grown into a big girl! :)
