After learning about a few of our community helpers, we headed downtown to our local fire and police departments. We weren't able to see much at the police station, but we had a complete tour of the Fire department! The kids loved walking around with the firemen. Eli asked me if he was a real Rescue Hero (like the ones he plays with at home!). I don't think he really believed me when I said yes. Both of the firemen had t-shirts and pants on, and Eli was looking for them to be all dressed up in their gear. We were able to meet the fireman that acts as curator of the small museum. He has down a great job of organizing and restoring some of our town's history. It was a fun-filled family day!
